The designer and artist Bernard Bouhnik has imagined a jewelry line exclusively conceived and realized around the metal notion.Tin or Brass are designed and worked in all the shapes and combinations possibles in an atelier in the center of Paris. The pieces are multiplied, assembled, welded in infinite and startlingly impressive interpretations. They are sometimes encrusted with hand made beads of pate de verre or Swarovski crystals. The finish is mostly a beautiful smooth aged silver plating or bronze plating.
Already established all over Europe, principally in Paris with many stores in the best fashionistas streets, in the Netherlands, in Spain in Italy, the brand is now spreading out to the US with its first flagship store opened in one of the best streets of the bourgeois-bohemia of Manhattan.
Bernard was born the third child of an immigrant jewish family, and raised in Paris near Montmartre. From an early age he was showing curiosity and creativity. His father, a talented ebenist and upholstery decorator was always speaking about the beauty of well hand-crafted furniture and home artifacts. In a tiny apartment, his mother and grandmother were creating a wonderful array of re-invented clothes on their old Singer machine.
Later, he used the same Singer machine to sew his own shirts and jackets inspired by the fashion of Uomo vogue. After a brief stint in the car industry, his love for fashion and design led him to work in a big vintage store in the Les Halles quarter. There he was observing the people wearing unusual classic clothing in a very personal way. The proximity of the Gorges Pompidou contemporary art museum was propitious to drain a lot of glamorous and trendy stylish clients. At some point the talent, the good eye, and the love for beautiful clothing merged together.
He decided to start designing. He chose the accessories and jewelry industry which gave him the ability to express his love for art, fashion and well hand-crafted objects. He was very quickly noticed by J.M Fellous, his PR, who drove him until now to the covers and pages of the best fashion magazines of the moment. Later Department stores like Galeries Lafayette, Le Printemps, and Le Bon Marche asked him to be a part of their rooster.
Today he is still living in the same quarter of Paris Les Halles sharing his time between his numerous stores, his worldwide wholesale clients, his atelier in the 11th arrondissement where he elaborates the new-new ones that he has in his mind, and his family life with Isabelle his wife and their beautiful many kids.
